  when i was an elder i often was approached by publishers who wanted to report some kind of bad conduct by a brother or sister.

  this led to all kinds of unpleasant, unloving situations.

  the first question of the accused was always "who told you this?

  I had several 'friends' rat me out. Ironically it turned out worse for them in the end then me. One fool told on me and then when I told him how the elders wanted to talk to me about the situation, he feigned surprise and ignorance to the whole situation. to top that one off the elders initially lied as to the source. At first they said it was from someone in another congo and it wasn't. That was the straw that broke me free...that and I wanted to kill him.

  i've been reading this forum for a while and i felt it was time to post my experience.

  i am very comforted when i read others experiences and how similar they are to mine, i don't feel alone.. anyway, i learned the truth in 97, got baptized in 98. all of sudden i was getting prvileges, parts on the ca and dc and had friends that seemed to care about me and i cared for them.

  eventually the love started to cool off, the meetings felt like watching reruns of a bland tv show.

  Dude, congrats on moving forward with your life. And I must add do you realize how fortunate you are. It normally takes folks 10-20 years to come to the conclusion and ultimate decesion you made, if not a lifetime(like me.)

  if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

  here's my 2 cents. whats the 1 thing dubs do that no other religion holds to DFing. what if they retract there hard line stane on DFing and shunning, thats something that will make people demand an apology. And the reason for the retraction...a GB's close reletive got DFd but for whatever reason$$$ he still needs to keep in contact.

  What will you do to celebrate Oct 2 2014?

  like most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.

  now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.

  there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.

  rebel 8 you need to check your math and your sense of reason. you ask how he got to oct 2014? was it published? did he add 80+1914? WTF?!? the last one would make 1994 not 2014 which is worse than 2014. and as far as reason and simple logic all he did was add 100 to the great historical date.

  a 12/03 WT study article comparing our present to noah's day. it pointed out how when god decreed the destruction of the ungodly people of noah's day they had 120 years to repent while noah built the ark. Then it said some 90 years have past since 1914?!? WTF? you mean to tell me that there are 30 years left in this system and I haven't been saving for retirement. And then a MS 'friend of mine' (who later betrayed me) was discussing the article and he's like "thats not what they mean by that." why would they make the comparison if they were not trying to expand the time frame for the end.

  i was reading a thread here the other and it mentioned that the assembly for 2006 will be "delivance at hand".

  is this going to be like 1974 when every jw's thought the end was going to come in 1975?

  i don't think jw's leaders would be that stupid again and build jw's for another date-setting letdown.

  Blondie your joking came true. I remember a WT study wrticle in 04 that was talking about the 120 years and then stated that some 90 years have already passed since 1914. I pointed this out to a then friend of mine who did not pick up on the corelation. He said they were not trying to say that there was another 30 years left before the end.
